+1 on the FXDC I traded my Sporty in on one and love this bike. Best thing to do would be to take a test ride on both. Thats what I did. and then decide if the LR is worth 3k more. I did not like the position of the tach on the LR ,with a FF helmet on it is useless. I put a mini tach on my brake resevoir.

6. blacked out motor
Before I reply, please note that i was comparing the fxdc...not the regular fxd.

1. I noted the addition of a tach...also noted it's less than ideal location. FXDC has the tank mounted speedo as well.

2. You're right!...I forgot to add that the lowrider wont handle as well because of the extra rake.

3. It's not that much lower. Plus consider that harley shocks are trash that most replace anyway...so again, not an important difference.

4. Maybe a little more, but not enough to justify the cost.

5. If I'm not mistaken, the indicator lights are on the riser clamp. Why the hell would they put those there but not the tach???

6. Ahh yes...finally, the blacked out motor. Like I said, THE ONLY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE that couldn't be upgraded for less than the cost of a stock lowrider.

Just so we are clear, I think lowriders are sweet as hell!!! Your bike proves that fact. But in this economy, if you can live with the silver motor, then the fxdc just makes way more since in terms of value. That being said...I would kill a nun for a dragonfly green & black lowrider.

If you and the wife are riding then the FXDC would be the choice if it's got the saddle for two people and if it already has the rear pegs. Then you can spend the money you'd spend on a two up saddle on some high way pegs and a removable windshield. With that said, I've built up my 02 FXD for haulin' two up, removable bags and shield. The wife found me an 05 FXDLI that remains configured for solo rides. So I guess I've got the best of both worlds. Go with the FXDC.

There's only a small amount of difference in the seat height between the two models. The great thing about the low rider is it has mid controls, but also has highway pegs. The best of both worlds. I'm 5'11" also and didn't have any problems on a Low Rider with mid controls. Loved it because on a long ride, I could shift positions better than you can with forward controls. Then stretch out using the highway pegs also.

To me, it's worth the extra money to get the tubeless tires/mag wheels, blacked out engine with chrome cases, and tachometer that comes on the Low Rider. The only thing I wish is, that the low rider came with buckhorn handlebars like they used to. But that's an easy fix.

Not sure about it. It may be, based on what bberck mentioned in his post...

Low Rider it does have extra rake in the front end by the way 1.5 degrees. Handling depends who is riding it on any bike. I love mine.

Default Dyna Choices

Hey,
I think as many have said its all about personal preferences. For me and my Vertically challenges Lady the FXDC has the best bang for the buck...She likes the mid controls and pegs on the Engine Guard gives you options for leg positions. We added the 11" Progressive Shocks.....and the name Super Glide Custom....lends itself nicely to....just that CUSTOMIZING....or personalizing.

After considering the FXD, FXDL and FXDC, I recently picked up an 09 FXDC and love it.

Great value and platform to make it your own.
