Please Help
If all I am gonna do to my bike for the forseeable future is add a new exhaust and Air cleaner what would be the best to do as far as getting the bike right. PCIII, TFI, Stealer DL. FuelPak. And what is the easiest to do??? Least expensive, most expensive ect... Thanks for the help. Hurry Hurry Pipes are in the mail
I am in the same situation as you. I have a 06 streetbob, V&H pipes sitting in my livingroom. What I can say is that the TFI & fuelpak seem to be the same, and the cheapest way. The PC is about $100 more, but do you need the PC? The TFI and Fuelpak adjust fuel flow but the PC adds adjustment to the ignition as well. I was speaking to a mechanic and he says that he just put Reinharts on his using a TFI and it runs great. Also the TFI you can adjust on the fly and the PC I believe you need to download a map. Not sure where to go either, perhaps some of you other guys can help.
I'd drop the dealer download and go for the TFI as the least expensive solution or go directly to the SERT and load/modify/tweek your own maps. The TFI for the '06 Dyna is about $215 shipped, the dealer stage one download is $150 and the SERT is $369 from online discounters. The factory stage one download will most likely get you on the road but it's a waste of money over the long run. Resist if you can especially if you plan on trying out different pipes, intakes or stage II, big bore mods.
I ran the TFI for a few weeks and then went with the SERT with no regrets. Since you load the map right to the factory ECU, it's 'invisable' to the dealer especially when warranty work is in question. A few of us are running customized maps with great success. The TFI is simple system that works very well but the install and removal is slightly involved. You should first check with your local dealer if they are 'fuel enricher' friendly which complicated removing if you need shop time. Most in my area are not which I found the hardway after spending the money.

about the stage 1 and the DL.....fogetaboutit! Just another way to make mo money. Besides the download is designed for screamin eagle slipons. The EPA pretty much has thier hands on what the dealer could do.

I just talked to the dealer and they told me that a simple harley DL will not suffice. They reccomended the Power Commander. I asked about the SERT and they said that they are not familiar with it. To look at some after market shops.WTF. I guess the bike is too new for harley shops to work on. What gives, Harley dont even know what is going on here. I am so confused. Why get a stage one at all if I am putting on new pipes ? PLease HELP
It is crazy, you would think they would be on the same page. The dealer I talked to also said that they left the o2 sensors connected with the PCIII, is this right? They only have done one install on the 06' dnyas, it was a wide glide. They installed the V&H Long shots. They left the O2 connected.
