I'm not saying that you need header tape just that it will make any exhaust system look more old school.Oddly enough though, back in the day, (the 70s) I never saw anyone running exhaust tape on their headers, they were either chrome or black.I didn't really start seeing it on bikes til about the mid ninety's.

I agree about the stock pipes. Use some thin slip-ons like V-H Straightshots or those turn outs Gary posted and wrap them. The rugged drag pipe look but with mufflers...

stock with some rush slash out slipons or V&H straightshot full pipes. Personally your bike would look killer with a black thunderheader. Sure would get some more performance too.

To me, those Bub Straightaways with a set of turn out end caps would look "nostalgic" if you turned the end caps up @ 45*.

Don't crucify me but I don't remember the name of my pipes. Got them from American Classic motors for about 180 bucks. They are loud and I have not heard any louder but they sound crappy. I like loud but I like the deep rumble.

I am getting some slash out cycle shack slip ons to use with the stock pipes. I am just waiting for Jireh cycles to have them back in stock. They are about $130 shipping included.

Just to update this. I decided since Jireh Cycles was out of stock I decided to call Dennis Kirk to see if they would match the price on the cycle shacks with their low price guarantee. They did and the mufflers should be here Friday. The final with shipping is $129.94. The Jireh Cycles part number is 64-441 if anyone else is looking to get a set.
