Default '06 DynaWide Heat issues

Greetings
My wifes Dyna has heat issue. To the point where it burns her leg. While riding in HOT weather or slow traffic and at stop light.
Can not find any heat shield for the bike.
Thought about an oil cooler. To cool the insides of the motor. And add more oil capacity. HD offers an oil cooler. I know there are after market oil coolers too. Which is best ?
Then talked with the parts guy at the local dealer. He suggested re-mapping the fuel system with a Power Commander. I know nothing about the Power Commander. Does this really help ?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.
Thankx
David

if you have added pipes and stage 1 breather without doing a remap it will run hotter i added just pipes on my 06 and it got really hot in the summer so I got the pcIII for mine and remapped it and alot of the heat issues went away. So with that in mind yes it would most likely help.

This is a fairly common complaint.

Jagg.... also who makes the HD system.

What they are doing is enriching the fuel mixture, making the engine run just a bit cooler. You can do this with a 'tuner' like a Power Commander. Or with some items like XIEDs. They basically trick the stock ECM into supplying a richer fuel mixture. Quite a few riders here use them.

A remap will help, they run lean from the factory. I switched to synthetic oil it helps also.

I'm inclined to say she ought to keep her legs away from the pipes. They are going to be hot no matter what you do. Haha, of course, but seriously first address any reason she is unable to keep her legs away from the pipes. You can lower the bike so she can get her feet out wider when she stops. If she has forward controls the reach seat might help lower her and move her forward in the seat.

to be honest it has been a problem with all twin-cam's.they run to lean but all the above will help alot a fuel mangement system, syn oil and a oil cooler i know it will take a few buck's but she will be happy in the end.
