I almost got run over by a taxi driver in Barcelona. My traffic light went green, I started my bike, and then, on a cross over a taxi driver don't state at his traffic light (in red) and drives over 2 scooters and I have the time to stop and get hit on the front right side, and fall down, obviously, with the bike over my leg.
Luckily the front peg stopped the bike from crushing my leg, but the brake pedal and right foot-peg will need to be replaced (they are not straight anymore...)
The worst side is that the taxi driver stopped just to get his license plate (which was on the floor) and left. I did not have the chance to make him fill the insurance papers, nor did the two scooter drivers. The people that stopped to help us couldn't get him and no police was around, so, I'll have to cover HIS mistake. I'm sending mails to taxi unions in the city to send the message that I just want to fill the papers but I don't think it will fix anything.
At least I'm ok and the bike has minor damage (apart from brake pedals, the clutch cover is scratched as the bike felt over it) The other 2 drivers are ok as well.
Damn ... that sucks bro! Glad you escaped serious injury and the damage to your bike was relatively minor. Hope you're able to get some info about the taxi driver so you can defray your cost of making things right.
Yup, glad you're okay warper. Jerks in cars.... they are everywhere
Also glad the damage was not bad.
As a side note, I never take right off on a green light... light goes green and I look both ways before I pull out. Don't care if it pi$$es people off behind me.....
The cab companies all have records of which cab was where and when. How else would they keep track of their tolls? The police should be able to figure it out.
