Default Another tank question?

Will the dash and hardware from a 2008 fxdb tank work on a 2006 fxdb tank?

I may be back at the tank swap again if it will.... I found a guy selling the complete set....

Thanks, Donnie

Donnie:

You bought that one on fleabay today for $285? I notice it had the speedo you were lookin' for .... I bid up to $100, but didn't want to spend that much ... didn't get too bad a deal for what you (or whoever) got ... new speedo about $400, dash $66, rubber trim $7, trip reset button $9, idiot lights and bezel $45 and those are my recollection of the Zanotti prices ... about half price of new

Donnie:

I'll be starting my tank conversion pretty soon. I just bought a bunch of parts from Zanotti that should be everything I need. Following is a list:

61705-06 dash $65.00
67185-04 rubber seal 6.72
68382-07 indicator light bezel 8.36
68789-96A indicator lights 34.46
75246-04 tank plate 39.91
75248-04 tank seal 15.33

also got a tank badge from 1971 (P/N 61771-66TB) 25.16

With $18.50 shipping, total came to

$213.44

I gave $225 for a 2004 smokey gold FXDL tank (included shipping) and I gave $25 for a fuel gauge (also included shipping). So far, $463.44 for tank swap.
I think there are only a couple of additional things I'll need ... gas filler cap, and I forgot to get the gauge clamp (P/N 67689-04 for $2.20). Just called Zanotti and added to my order.

Contrary to what you were told, a guy at the service counter of one of the half dozen Puget Sound dealers I occasionally visit, printed the parts pages for the FXDB/FXDL ('07) and for the FXD. The P/N for the FXDB speedometer is 67478-04A. Guess what? The FXD speedometer is P/N 67478-04A.

I'm not getting the wiring harness, so I think I'll have to get a Deutsch connector to change out to the FXDB indicator lights. I was hoping I could reuse my indicator lights, but the FXD assembly is wider than the slot in the FXDB dash.

I am planning on reusing my speedometer ... I'll let you know if it doesn't work ... you'll probably hear a pretty spirited rant if it doesn't!

Oh yeah ... will also need a top clamp for my riser.

I'll try to get some pics of everything as I do it ....

Wish me luck.

bet you won't need a new speedo. Think you were told erroneous info. Go ahead and swap those tanks.
