Yeah ... I've been thinking about blacking out the chrome front fender trim, and eventually the forks. I've already taken the chrome strut covers off.
The color that has caught my fancy, for the time being is a BMW color "platinum bronze" ....
The FXDL tank I just picked up off fleabay is a gold tone ... don't know what the MoCo calls the color (smokey gold?). I kinda like that color, too.
Don't think I'll do anything with the engine or primary cover; except maybe polish the outer primary and cam cover to a shine and maybe put a coat of clear to seal them.
I still want to change out the pipes ... attached is a photo of my concept; maybe use black header wrap on them.
Also, when I have the upper and lower fairings on, I'll probably be sporting my hard bags (still waiting on brackets to get them mounted). I'd like to do a Von Dutch style pinstripe flourish on the lid of each bag, and the antique Oak Leaf H-D logo centered on my upper fairing.
I really llike the pipes!!! REALLY like them... will flow perfect with your bikes style... what you should do is get some of the old school slinky style exhaust tubing (cheap at any auto store) and put that on the top upper portion of the headers then take the wrap and wrap the pipe back to the muffler section... give it an old school kick!
something like this but wrap the lower portion and the pipe... would look trick!
I agree with the pin stripe man.. love the look your going for!!!!
I have to agree, the black really pulls it together. You sure have been patient waiting on those parts. I would be chasing down any UPS truck in the neighborhood at this point.
Joe you got an idea with the flex pipe, I like it.
