I could never get my HD quick detach to stop buffeting. It was so bad, my eyeballs would actually rattle. I raised it, lowered it, extended the brackets, bent the brackets, tipped it forward, tipped it backward, put on a Laminar Lip-nothing worked.
By tipping it back I found the position that stops all the buffeting.
They say they don't have one for the FatBob, but the headlight cut-out allows it to be used. I could widen the cut out if I wanted it lower, but since it works, I'm not gonna mess with it. Here is the one from my Sporty on the FXDF. Just had to get 1 1/4" bar clamps. It goes on or off in seconds.
National Cycle was easy to adjust the buffeting out. The thing I never liked was the cheap, plastic hardware. I did find that the virtue of a quick detachable system is pretty moot when you realize how comfortable the ride is with the shield in place, you never take it off.
Mine was destryed in an accident and I haven't replaced it yet but I am leaning to the Memphis Shades version because the hardware is stainless rather than plastic.
I use a quick detacheable screen and I find it buffets less when the screen is fitted upwards as far as possible. It buffets quite a lot but I've got used to it. The first time I fitted it I rode from S.W. England across to Calais in France and up to the other side of Antwerp in northern Belgium in the pouring rain. It worked well. I'd prefer to ride without it but sometimes you need it.
I've got a 2" tank lift that I haven't got round to fitting yet. I guess it will make a difference.
I have an 06 WG with dragbars. I put on a windvest shield, a 2" tanklift and a toolbag under my headlight. I can do 70-90 all day long no issues at all.
okay... do this... while doing over 60 kmh raise your feet till they are inline with the tank. You will notice the wind buffeting stops... just keep your feet there!
I had the same issue and now I don't have any buffeting. I lowered my windshield so it's barely above the headlight, but I was still getting buffeting from the top so I unscrewed the four alans on the sides and tilted the winshield forward as far as I can and tighten it down and now no more buffeting with a full face or a half.
I'm still having wind buffeting with the HD low profile...when you moved it forward, was that moving it closer to the bike or moving it angled further away?

I'm confused...
Jaron moved the top of the windshield away from the bike.
