While out riding yesterday I heard a "tinging" noise upon acceleration. It wasn't a steady noise, no continous pattern, just an irregular "ting" upon acceleration. I first thought it might be the primary chain loose and hitting the primary cover (although the adjuster is automatic), then I thought maybe it was the "Tommy Gun" exhaust cover rattling (although it sounded like the noise was coming from the left side). Any ideas or similar happenings?
My last ride back in November I got some louder tinging during acceleration. I pulled into a parking lot to check it out but couldn't find it. Sounded terrible. Checked the oil and decided to take it easy on the way home. Later found that the exhaust bracket had snapped in half. Whew!
Chased another noise a couple summers back. Had several friends and mechanics test ride it. No one could pinpoint it. Turned out the the rubber sidestand bumper had rotated on the frame and allow the sidestand to intermittently contact the frame.
Hope you track it down and it turns out to be minor.

Maybe it was your Gremlin Bell snapping back against the frame.
