I recently put some Screamin' Eagle II mufflers on stock pipes on my Streetbob, hi-flow AC kit and download. Mufflers are used and a few days after installation the baffel in the top muffler rattled loose and fell out evidently. I'm wondering if the difference in back pressure caused by one pipe having the welded baffle and the other pipe open will cause me a problem. Any suggestions or recommendations?
DG...I'm no expert, but the loss of back pressure in one pipe could cause you some performance issues. I'm taking it that you bought the race tuner and once your computer is mapped to perform with the slip-ons with baffles in them (the only way it will map it) it may not perform as well without them. However, if your bike is still performing okay as is, I don't think it will cause you any problems.
If you're intrested in a further upgrade...Vance & Hines has come out with several options that will work on your Street Bob. They have the O2 sensors on them, but it will take a few extra hours to map your SERT. I think it's a conspiracy by Harley to charge a little more.
Thanks for the info. I should clarify, I put the mufflers on a few days before riding to the dealership for the AC and map download. The baffel fell out before the map and AC were installed. I forgot to ask the tech about the missing baffel. The bike seems to run fine, I'm just worried that it may cause a problem down the road and am wondering if I should get a replacement baffel. A friend told me to drill out the other baffel with a holesaw. Any comments on this?
Get a new baffle, or get a set of them.
I wouldn't butcher the one you have left, to make it like the one that should be replaced.
I'm not phamilar with them, but I'd bet you could get a set of Thunder ??Header/Monster?? baffles that will be even better then the stock one in the SEs.
