Well I got my SE Heavy Breather yesterday and couldn't wait to put it on. Now I just got off the phone with Keith at FuelMoto and my PC-V is on the way. BRING on the WARM weather. I have pics of the breather installed and will get them up after work.
Thanks to HDF and all the members. After searching and reading I think I made the right choices.
My bike is in and I'll pick it up as soon as the weather warms up. I asked the dealer about a PCIII. He said don't do it.
"The Power Commander hasn't kept up with (the latest) technology." "Where are you going to put it? I just replaced two that were cracked from being under the seat."
Yes. These are quotes from the service manager and his head mechanic. He also said that you can adjust more parameters with the SERT. He recommeded that I go with the SERT and 2.5 hrs labor to set it up (around $700 out the door).
This is my first Harley since 1972. Can I get a little help here? I want to do what's best for my bike (get the air in and out of the cylinder at the optimum AFR).

Thanks. I know I can trust MOST of you out there
I was going to do the HD stage 1 download but I have heard mixed reviews about it. All I'm doing to mine is slip on's and SE heavy breather. The PC V will give me what I want and maybe some room to grow without having to spend over $600 for a tunner and dyno time. I didn't want a programer that was to confusing. Fuelmoto was $310 to my door. Like an old saying K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid).
i just did the se heavy breather and pc v install 2 weeks ago and i will tell ya it is like riding a whole different machine!! pulls very hard in all gears I find myself having to hold on tighter. next is cams.
I have a PC5 and a big sucker on the way. I like the idea of being able to install the auto tune later down the road when I have the money. I don't think that the SERT is that much better ( if at all ) than the PC5, especially when cost is taken into consideration.
Maybe there is someone that can break down the different features of the two and which on has more available tuning options.
SERT keeps the O2 sensors in tact. So everywhere below 1/2 throttle,(or around 3500 rpm's) the sert (tts mastertune too) outperforms the PCIII in adjustability. Makes for a better behaving bike while cruising(drivability).
The sert is more adjustable than the PCIII. The TTS goes even beyond the sert in it's tunability.
With each tuning device, the results will fully depend on it being set up(dyno'ed/mapped)properly.
I'm looking to keep the engine cooler by increasing the AFR and have a better performing bike - in that order. Will the PCV serve the purpose now (stock) and when I throw a SE Heavy Breather and V&B Big Shot Staggards?
Also, I heard that a "closed loop" system included the O2 sensors and an "open loop" system does not. Where does the 1/2 throttle issue come in?
I am interested in all this, keep the comments coming. Exhaust and pcv/iii/sert (?) are on the list of my next mods.
A small hijack. Some comments were about space under the seat. I am looking to put an HID kit on my bike and need to find space for several components. If there is little to no space under the seat, where would all these things go? Where are possible spaces to stuff components?
