I have a Q/R windshield for a Wide Glide. it is too wide for my Low Rider. The inner bracket seems flaired out quite a bit. Can I order new docking hardware for a Low Rider and change out inner bracket so it will fit?
I guess my question is: are the windsheilds themselves standard sized and the bracketing makes them unique to a particular model?
The wide glide has a different fork setup than the low rider, which is where you are running into problems. If it is a HD windshield, I'd take some measurements and go talk to the parts guys at your local dealership. Odds are that it'll take some creativity to make the windshield you have fit on your low rider, and it may not be possible.
Not an expert here, but I believe that the WG forks are 1. Spaced farther apart tha the rest of the family and 2. They have a larger diameter. Don't think they will work. I have a qd, old style that I took off my 03 FXDL. I put the passing lamps/ aux lamps on and had to change the windshield. If you can't find a solution and want to talk, I think you can find me. Good luck
bberck- ended up right on the money. I was 1" wide, so switching out the 3/4" bolts for 1 1/4" bolts and using 1/2 " spacers was just the ticket. So for those trying to make this work, some creativity and some common sense go a long way. See you on the road. NFCCRWR
