Hey guys, I know alot of you have been getting your parts powder coated, but I am curious if anyone has gotten a polished aluminum part chromed? If so how much did it set you back? Thanks!
I just did my triple tree's and exhaust bracket and it cost me $225, but that was with a discount. I would guess your looking at around $250. Call around for prices and turn around time cause spring is coming!
I don't know why you'd spend $250 to have yours chromed when for $187.37 plus shipping you can get a chrome replacement outer primary cover (V-Twin Part No. 43-0264, pictured below) from Discount Cycle Parts.com.
It includes the gaskets, chrome fasteners, inspection cover, derby cover, O-ring, etc.
You might be able to sell your take-off on craigslist or fleabay to recoup part of your outlay ....

I often think people just get to carried away with an idea , its always best to take a step back and think out what you wanna do then research all options.
In this case you may have saved the fellow a few bucks!!

Definitely check around, When I did my trees I asked about doing other parts I had laying around, inner primary & swingarm figuring I could sell them later. I was actually told that I would be able to buy a new chromed inner primary & swingarm for what it would cost to have the stock one's done! The chromer I used came recommended by quite a few dealer's & indy's and I'm totally satisfied with his work. Ask your local shops who they use and try and see some of their work. Not all chrome is equal!
