I am the recent owner of a 2008 FXD SE2 Screaming Eagle. I want to get a set of engine guards but don't what which ones to look at. Can you guys & gals give me some idea's? I do want them to look odd and not take away from the outstanding beauty of the bike.
I've got the Harley ones and until I witnessed for myself how much they can save your leg and bike I would have never considered one. i was at a gas station filling up along a major highway when I heard a Semi truck grearing down and braking hard. When I looked up there was a guy on his bike trying to turn fast with the trucker inch's from his taillight!! He hit that Dreaded gravel right off the shoulder and him and his bike went skidding sending sparks and gravel everwhere. I ran over just knowing I'd be pealing his hide from the road. Both him and his bike had nothing but a small scratch on his Engine guard bars and some gravel inbeaded in his leather. The bike was ok but he was shook up for a while. He had just got back from Iraq to attend his brother's funeral who was KIA in Afganastan. Glad he didn't get hurt.
Get the Guard Bars...Cheap insurance and Great place for Highway pegs.

Thanx in Advance
Lindby's good, I've had good luck with the H-D ones on both my Sporty and FXDC. If you decide to go with the H-D engine guard, I recommend Zanotti Motors in Butler, PA. Even with shipping, they're cheaper than buying from Harley. Here's the link:

Dang! Lucky guy! I dropped my Sporty a couple of times and the engine guard definitely saved any real damage to the bike and to me. Well, other than hi-siding and ending up in front of the bike, but that's another story. *lol*

There was a recent thread discussing the point that everyone has or will drop a bike sometime, somewhere, somehow. At that time, you will wish you had the engine guard. Get the guard before that time comes.
