It is not the bearing. That roller bearing is heavy enough to go over 100k easily. It is the case alignment issue. Either bad quality on some cases or bad design or improper assembly process issue. But it is a misalignment issue for sure which is why all of them don't fail. But making a case without dowels is pretty stupid if you ask me.

The case issue was addressed with the 07 and up models, right?
I've had my bike back for about a week now and put about 200 miles on it and everything is nice and tight and quiet. The cases on the trans are actually 08' cases i can tell cause they had to add the spacer for my Vance and Hines pipe bracket to fit and that was for the 08' model. They said there isn't any alignment dowells so i don't know whats different. I'll let you guys know if I have anymore problems. Oh yeah by the way it took them 3 weeks to get all the parts in and i made the mistake of dropping it off after 1 week when most of the parts were in. Who knew it would take so long to get the rest of the stuff.
so how long will the noise go on before it goes out?Last fall I ran it by 2 differnt shops both told me it was no problem after hearing it.told me its the clutch all coming together when lever pulled in. got home changed the primary oil have rode it 2000 miles since noise still there no worse.bike has 48400 on it
My understanding is that essentially all of the '06 Dynas had this problem due to a known design defect. Supposedly, the MOCO will just keep replacing the bearing anytime it fails for as long as you own the bike. They very seldom go over 15,000 miles before going out. Sometimes a lot less. I read somewhere that they set aside something like ten-million dollars to continue to cover this issue.

guess time will tell with it.it goes out i got both the papers on the issue see what will happen with it
My 06 Dyna failed whilst we were supposed to be on the trip of a life time in France just two weeks ago.
Out of warranty and had to get it fixed there and then through some difficult translation. Ł200 odd later we were back on the road, but most of our holiday cash gone. Arriving back in England the noise has come back. Dealer wants it in for two days, I have written to Harley UK about this issue and have heard nothing. I waited 40 odd years to own a Harley (since I was ten) and finally got my Street Bob in May 2006.
Nothing but trouble and heart ache since. You name it, I have had trouble with it.
Plus if my Honda riding neigbour tells me one more time that I should have bought a Pan European I think I will have to bury him.
Mind you I am begining to think he may have a point.
So here I am, its pouring with rain (as usual) no bike, as dealer cannot take it in until the 28th. sitting here pouring my heart out to you guys. Well I hope you all feel very sorry for me. Because I do.
