Here is one for you guys: You know that hi pitched sound your fuel injected bike makes after you turn the ignition on? Well sometimes, not every time, the bike will make that hi pitched normal sound for just a moment then it will change to a low frequency grrrrrrr sound. Sorry, I'm not good at describing sounds. Anyways, it has done it for the four months 3300 miles I rode before it got put away for winter. I'll bring it to my dealer this spring if you guys think its bad. Still under warranty, luckily. What is this horrible sound?
Fuel pump pressurizing. Speedo also goes through a sweep and engine performs a quick self-check: allow about 8-seconds (eng light will go off) before starting to allow all of this to happen and enjoy the show!

#1 on everything going through it's paces. As soon as light goes off, everything is settled in and all is good to start. Just let it finish what it needs to do before starting her up.
Waiting for the check engine light to go off before starting is the biggest myth I've seen on here. You do not have to wait for the light to go out before starting your bike. No idea where that myth started but it is dead wrong. The only thing you might have to wait for is the lines to fill with fuel when the pump is pumping but I always start mine immediately after flipping the switch to run and it hasn't exploded yet.
Also if you have a newer bike with a PCIII then if you wait for the little light to go out before starting the bike it will be harder to start than if you just flip the switch to run and hit the starter button.
Anyways fellas, I have never heard anybody elses efi harley make that horrible sound before. I always wait till the engine light turns off before i hit the starter. Just odd, that is why i throw it out there. Apparently nobody else has experienced this so off to the dealer we go come clear roads....
