Just got my new wide glide (08 anniversary) was amazed at the vibrations. Could not take the bike out due to weather. Do the vibrations at idle smooth out with acceleration? That's my question. Any help?
Thank you. Tomccc (tomc64@att.net)
Yes.... but that is part of the Harley Dyna series charm It is true, the softails and touring models use a slightly different engine: it's internally balanced. The Dyna engine is not.

I test rode a used Fat Bob, boy did that thing shimmy and shake coming up to a stop. Only really feel it at and around idle. Went out right away and bought a new one. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Beach+B...ood+Vibrations
Mine is still new and vibrates at idle but does smooth out somewhat as I go through the gears. The vibs start to get noticible again as I go through 70 mph. Havent had it much above that yet.
I bought my FXD in Iraq and just brought it home from the dealer about an hour ago. I bought a '67 "900" Sportster when I got back from Vietnam and I couldn't believe how smooth the new FXD was. I could barely feel the engine on the '09 Dyna compared to the '67 Sportster. I guess vibration is relative.
It's 47 degrees in Buffalo with no snow on the ground so I wanted to get it so I could start putting my mods on. So much for my savings account...
