Longhair, the TH looks damn good on your bike! Glad you like the gains in performance also.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you'll ever wanna go back to the slip ons....wait'll you get on it and hear how it sounds. Ain't nuthin like it!!
Mud, I love that lowrider....looks damn good and I bet it's a helluva runner!!
So, I updated the map and went for a ride. One word: WOW. I'm diggin the gain in performance. I went up the road a piece and then turned around. When I did, I got on it a bit and I think the front wheel may have left the pavement just a bit. I honestly didn't expect it.
As for the sound, it's a bit tinny but I think I can definitely live with it. The SEII's were definitely a little deeper tone. I'm gonna hold onto them for a bit before throwing them up for sale, just to make sure this is what I want.
I'll definitely need to get at least the front heat shield as I already burned my boot on it. Guess I'm just marking my territory.
Two pics of the completed install:
Good job hair.
Keep an eye on any bolts you had off, for a few daze, to be sure everything is good.
And keep gettin on it if you really like unicycles.
You may even get a trip to the moon if you try.
About the boot burn, I always cut a little piece out of the stock heat shield,
(cut out part with the strap attachment) and place it as needed (pictured below).
...cut a little from the stock heat shield... I didn't think of that at all. Good idea and saves me about $50 on a heat shield. Guess that's why you're the mod.
Looks kickass! I am jealous. I didn't read the whole thread just looked at the pics. But do you have the heat shields on the pipe?
Shawn
No sir, I don't. The company I bought the pipes from wanted $150 for the heat shields. Too much. I have found them individually on ebay for $35/ea + shipping. Just didn't worry about it, but I like Mud's idea.
Mud, thanks for that idea. I just took the oem front heat shield and there is a good section of it that will match up with the front headpipe of the TH almost perfectly and it'll have two straps available. A little hacksaw and some creativity and I got myself a heatshield. Suh-weet.
