Default Clutch cable install issue

I searched and came up with some posts in the Tech forum, but only others with the same problem I'm having and no answers. I put in a new cable and with it fully collapsed, I couldn't get the end of the cable into the lever. Is it possible I managed to booger up the ramps and *****?

You could always open up your primary screw it in and out and see if it loosens up a bit.

Clutch was working fine before cable change. Would screwing the clutch adjustment in/out realign things? Or, am I going to roll it onto some 2x4s to open it up again and not have to get another quart of oil?

Check that you seated the big snap ring back into the actual groove over the "ramp" disc. I had to pull mine apart to put new controls on and when I put it back together I put the snap ring on farther in than the groove and was having the same issue, I couldn't get any tension.

When I had a problem getting the clutch adjusted I was told to make sure I took it in and out to get any kinks out of the cable. before re tightening it. I would check the post above this first, but if that doesn't work Try getting the kinks out.

Make sure that you have the open part of the "C" clip in the same spot that you took it off in also.

Well, I opened the side cover again and the ***** were OK and the snap ring was OK. The only thing I think I found amiss was the cable ferrule didn't seem to be fully seated in the coupling. Also, reading the service manual, the adjustments should be made at room temperature. Um, it's kinda cold in my garage, about 15°. Anyhow, I've got about ¼" slack in the cable, now.
