Default Security

I know that there have been a lot of comments on the HD security system. I'm wondering if anybody swears by one. I'm considering dropping $300+ on it but I need to positive feedback before I use the security system instead of a disk lock. I don't live in a high-crime area, I'm just a former cop who doesn't like people messing with his stuff.

I have the security system, but If I was worried about it, I would lock the front tree also.

I have the security system with the siren on mine. It is "garaged" in an enclosed trailer in front of my condo. The trailer has numerous locks to prevent it from being dragged off the lot. The bike is kept inside in a condor chock, with the alarm set and a disc lock on. When I'm not around to keep an eye on it, I like to keep my neighbors (and their guests) honest.

When out and riding, the alarm is enough to keep my happy. If concerned, I'll lock the fork lock. Stopping for lunch/dinner I usually park where I can keep an eye on the bike from the restaurant. Has more to do with idiots sitting on it than it being stolen. While at bike week, I relied on just the alarm. There are usually enough people around that a bike alarm going off will raise interest.

Helmet/Gear get locked up using bags from PacSafe.

Thanks Joe. I can always rely on you for the right info. BTW, what's the chance of you replacing your picture with the one that you used to have up? The one with the babe in the furry hat. I liked that one A LOT better!

Mine came with the alarm and si-reeeen; I'm pleased with both. Ran out'a gas last week and locked the forks for the first time while I bummed a ride to/fro the nearest station...10-minutes, tops, but I felt better knowing I was as secure as I could make it.

I have a friend who once had his Dyna stolen by someone with a "skeleton key"; the thief literally rode away on it.

The HD security system will at least prevent that type of theft from happening. Adding the siren would discourage casual thieves even more.

Default You need the Siren

The stock system at least on a 08 Street Bob, only activates the turn signals. I have a good lock and cable and a wheel lock. Turn signals not enough you need the siren.
