Has anyone tried this fairly new front drop in kit for lowering a 06 or 07 St. Bob???
They make it look pretty easy....Just like to know how it changed the ride.
I have pushed my tubes about an inch or so up into the triples for the last couple of years but I think that changes the rake making the tire actually closer to the frame....That's the way it looks to me anyway....
This looks like the ticket and looks pretty simple to....
I have my new Wide Glide triples and axle ready to go but just need to find a hub spacer to match my caliper and rotor running my stock 19 inch wheel...
Once I go to a WG front end I wanna use a fatter front tire......The roads around here are just NFG for a 21 inch skinny....
The kit sure does make things easier. I have the old style 2" lowering kit in mine. The lowering kit will have the same effect on your rake as sliding the tubes up the trees. One thing is the lowering kit will subtract 1" of travel from your bike as opposed to what you are doing now.
There is one thing that could be better about the spring kit. You can lower more than 1" to get the frame more level from front to rear. Should help to bring your front end back to the proper rake and improve your handling. Lowering the rear more than the front increases your frame rake.
I have the early style Rounder speaks about. Night and day difference from the factory set up. You will loose some lean angle and you're probably going to have to do the jiffy stand mod as well. I am quite satisfied with mine. Adrian, didn't you and Howard recently have your front end apart?

Yeah we did. I didn't have any $$$ for the springs at the time. Really wish I did, that way I wouldn't of had to tear into the front again.. OH WELL! Just gives me an excuse to get some work done on the bike and get away from the woman.
I installed midglide triple trees with a 5 degree rake when I installed the Progressive springs; a buddy did the install for me and sure made it look easy (he works for beer). Changing the front springs along with adding progressive 440s sure changed the way my bike rides - its very nice.
I know this is an old thread, I just wanted to submit my review on the Progressive drop-in kit for my 2010 Street Bob. I bought these expecting an easy install. Just like the video shows, jack up the bike a little, take off the fork caps, remove the old spacer and spring, put in the new springs and spacers, put the fork cap back on, and presto chango, you're good to go. Well, Murphy's Law bit me in the a$$ and what was supposed to be an easy 30 minute job turned out to be a nightmare. Once I got the fork caps off, I couldn't see the stock springs, and the fluid didn't make it any easier. I called Progressive and they suggested I jack the front tire up to compress the forks. Did that and still couldn't see the stock shocks to take them out. Called Progressive back and they said I would have to take the forks off. I didn't see any where in their instructions or video saying that they you MIGHT have to take off your forks for the install. I mean they are called Drop-Ins, so I don't understand why you would have to take the forks off. The tech said they are still considered drop-in's even if I have to take the forks off for some reason I really don't care to understand. I say it's false adverstisement unless you put a secondary set of instructions or disclaimer in the event you can't take out the stock spring like mine. Anyways...blah blah blah from me...just my two cents.
When I installed my kit I also couldn't reach the springs. All I did was make a hook out of a metal clothes hanger and pulled them out. No issues with the install at all.
