Well they came today and I put em on.......damn the bike is 20mph faster Now I'm not so worried about my kids knockin it off the jiffy while I'm at work which by the way is my biggest fear with this bike. I know a guy who's kids knocked over his fatboy in the garage onto a concrete step and cracked the fins and the casting on the front jug plus ruined the chrome primary case & gas tank. About $3,000 later he put guards on. He told me to get them the day I got my bike but I let it go until my 13 year old daughter and one of her friends were rollerblading out there all around it. Once I saw that I got online to Zanottis right away.
I have seen them on road kings and other harleys but could not picture them on a low rider
they look better than I thought... gives a wider look
now where will your hi way pegs fit in ??
KBFXDLI,
Looks good, now for the highways pegs.
Can you use you engine guard with forward controls also? It looks like you have a different angle on your set then mine.
Looking at the photos.....the 06 FXDLI has highway pegs standard and they changed the design of the engine guard to accomodate them.(they bolt onto the frame downtubes with u-bolts). But I think I'll get a set of the chrome highway pegs that bolt onto the outside of the guard and reverse them so they are on the inside edge I was out riding today and my shoe fits nicely on the inside of the guard so I'll get chrome pegs and mount them inside. That will be better than the stock ones because my right leg will be further away from the engine & exhaust heat. If I get the touring seat I'll be almost laying down on this bad boy going down the highway......hmmm....then I'll need some chrome forward controls.
Looks sharp KBFXDLI....was trying to picture it and didn't think it would look as good, but it does.
And your right concerning the kids - and its cheaper to boot than building/buying a seperate shed to keep the kids' stuff in. For now, their bikes are on the porch and the garage is locked!
