I decided to save some money and attempt to do mods myself. I am going to have some part powder coated. Also I ordered accutronix 3 degree trees today. I am having them powdercoated as well.
For the most part things are going ok. I am stumped as to how I get the fork nut off. I don't have a socket that big and I really don't want to purchase one.
I also made the mistake of lowering the bike on the lift. It is sitting really solid but I cannot lift it much more than six inches because the bike slid back on the lift slightly and it is back heavy.
Here are some pics of her all tore apart.

I just double checked, its a 1 1/2" nut.
I have a 07 street bob, I don't think the steerer size has changed recently...

You're not in over your head, just take your time and think it through. Real easy to slip with the monkey wrench and bang the tank. Too bad you aren't close to me, I'd let you use my socket.
