I am trying like a few others on here to balance the chrome and black on my bike. That being said should I put black or chrome progressive rear shocks on my bike and should I go with 12" or 11", I believe stock is 12.5/8" I like the slammed look of 11" but I ride 2up and am concerned about bottoming out the 11"

What do you hope to gain by going to a Progressive shock? I've been searching the threads and I'm picking up a lot of mixed opinions on going to an aftermarket shock. Even if you go to a higher end shock and pay $1k or more is it a softer ride, harder ride, better handeling. For me I'd like a better, more comfortable and better handeling ride but can't decide on which brand to buy. If you find one that does all I want please post a review.
Now to answer your question:
12" chrome with black springs.

Good Luck,
Mike

I have black 11' progs. They ride fine to me, but don't go out there and rage twisties either. My front sliders are also black though. My decision was based on all or none (front and rear) black or chrome. I think your bike will look good either way.

i would say black because it goes with all the black in that area, and i would totally say 11" because 1" lower doesnt seem like alot but cosmetic wise it makes a hugr difference. i ride 2up all the time withno problem(i have the progressive hds).

Went with 12 and1/2"l Progressive 440's, like a little more clearance
(should have ordered 1" longer) The stock length on the Fat Bob is 12"
The bike doesn't wallow so much as it did B4 in the twisties, tho a SuperBrace is on the way and Progressive springs up front.

I have 11" full chrome Progressives on mine. OEM Bob shocks are 12". Figure out which way you wanna go and go there. Your opinion in the only one that matters.

Take it down in length only 1/2"... I personally like the fully covered shocks.

The issue is more than bottoming out. If you actually enjoy going arounf corners, you will scrape something. The bikes aren't really good stock, lowering just makes a bad problem worse.

However, if you just like cruising, staying straight, etc, the slammed look is cool

I have Ohlins now.... progressive shocks suck ***** comparatively. For about the cost of 440's you can have ohlins or works. The Ohlins ride 1000% better than my progressives did and when I hit a corner, it feels like the tires are pressing into the ground. So spectacular ride quality and great handling. Yeah, they are amazing!!!! Mine are 305mm(12").
