Default Tank Lift Help

I purchased a 3-inch tank lift for my 07 street Bob. I really like the look in the pics I see and it sounded easy enough to do. I read the instructions and had some help from my nephew to hold the tank. The cross over line has enough slack but the rest of the wires have no slack. I have no idea what happen but we broke the fuel line and I had to purchase the whole assembly, which set me back $43. What I thought would be easy is turning out to cost me more. Can any one help and give me some advice on how to get some slack from the wires so I could lift the tank up to reach the bracket? I saw a thread that indicated from the frame. Should I take off the rubber grommet? Any help is appreciated because I don't see myself spending more money to have the dealer install it.

unbolt the dash on top of the tank. I was able to get some slack from under there.

I used the 2" lift and dont recall the harness being short. But i did pull it out of the frame just a bit so it would have extra slack in the harness, and not be pulling on the connector's. also added a longer length of hose to the fuel vaper line.
