Question Ok, Dumb Question time?

Is there any mechanical reason to leave your belt guard on? Does it effect the belt over time? Took mine off this weekend and was just wondering.....

Kind of a dumb question, but I am the guy that leaves the house and thinks that he left something on and I cannot control the urge to turn around and go check.....

I took mine off and it hasn't seemed to make a difference.

I dont run a belt gaurd! have done for one season so far no problems yet. The guard stops rock and gravel from prematurely destroying the belt, also stops passengers hiting the belt with their foot.

My wife rides fine without it. She knows not to stick her foot in there.

All depends on if you're willing to let it happen once...

Check your main pulley for pitting. Im starting to get some with out a belt guard doesn't seem like a huge issue but I might be in the market for a replacement pulley and belt before riders with a belt guard.

WS6 had a post about this too, so I don't think I'm alone.
