I've been kicking around the idea of adding mid peg mounts to my 03 Wide glide. On long rides my knees start to ache and need to move. I am thinking about adding mid pegs so I have another position to put my feet on long rides.
I don't have the part number, but I can tell you that it is definitely worth it. I have mid mount pegs, and its the best thing I've done to the bike. For the long rides, its makes the biggest difference. Check out ebay.. or ask on here. I posted a thread on here and someone sent them to me for cheap.
I just put up a post about too many pegs. I have forward controls, mid pegs and a highway bar with highway pegs. I took a 150 mile ride last night and I have to say it was comfy as hell. Putting my feet on the mid mounts gave my legs a rest and it eliminated the buffeting pretty good. It's like the wind travels up my legs and hits my head. But the forward controls are definitely the way to go...I feel more in control than when my feet are mid mount position. Then the highway pegs are for the real stretched out lay back ride position.
It's also nice to put one foot mid and one foot on the forwards to give your back a rest. It relocates all the weight differently.
+1 with what Adrian says- I added a set of mid mounts. I'm 5'9", and buying the bike with the forwards was the wrong decision for me. Adding the mids make life good again.
