I posted this exhaust question in the appropriate forum but nobody really hangs out there so here it is, I'm a Bob owner anyway. Anybody ever painted or thought of painting header wrap. A light spray to get that correct tint of black, seems like it could really set the bike off instead of just the normal dark gray wrap. High temp/BBQ paint or engine block enamel of course.

They make the header wrap in several colors, black included. You can get some special spray for the wrap, and the manufacturer says not to use regular high temp paint. It's probably something to do with the composition of the wrap. I think I read it contains a lot of silicones, and that may mean the regular paint wouldn't be compatible. I wrapped mine with the black, sprayed it with the black paint, and touch it up once a year.

There is a company that makes a header wrap infused with a ceramic coating that allows phor much truer colors. Their black is a real black, not a dark grey. They even make red, yellow, orange, and BLUE!

Actually the company that makes this product is Sesame Tech: www.SesameTech.com . Not cheap but very cool looking!

Mine is fading as well. I am actually looking forward to it fading completely and turning that dingy, burt brown color. I just really like that look, plus it will go with the bike and the antiqued pinstripping. The straight black wrap that stays black would look really good too though!

It should...I know the uncolored stuff does eventually, it just takes awhile. I don't see why ours wouldn't get that burnt color since the black is fading leaving it looking like the uncolored wrap. Just keep me posted on what it changes to and I'll do the same.
