I tried the solo rack and didnt care for it. I didnt really want a sissy bar on it so I went unconventional. I had C&C build me a fast back with a backrest and use my drivers backrest to mount the bags to and the passenger seat as the rack.
I like it alot and the added comfort of the backrest is a plus. I have 3 different size bags I use depending on what I need to take.
My smallest bag I pretty much leave on all the time now. Once you get used to having somewhere to put stuff its harder to go without.
The thing of it is that I like the low profile of a fender rack, but I like the quickness with which I can remove a detachable sissy bar...I prefer the clean look for the majority of my riding.

Motherwell all the way... Takes 1 minute to put on or take off. Cost less than detacble sissy bar with rack. Sissy bar, rack, and docking hardware is going to take a couple hours to install the first time. The solo rack is going to take about a minute to unpack, then about a minute to install. Plus the black one would look great on your bike!
Detachable Solo Rack for me….easy on – easy off. I just leave my bag fastened to it and take the whole rack off when I reach my destination.
It sounds to me like you’re only considering the permanent black rack? I balked at the detachable only being in chrome at first, but I got over it. It’s no big deal. I only use it for trips anyway.
