Well im switching out my shocks again to the arnotts air shocks,,i want to give em a try,who has them on thier dyna? Pros /cons?
I don't have them, I went with Street Glide air shocks. I would suggest that you look into all the air shocks available, especially air shocks that have two adjustments, one to adjust height and one to adjust firmness.
The newest ones available that I know of are made by Shotgun Shocks: http://www.shotgunshocks.com/, I saw them on a Softail in person at a local bike night, high quality and a very clean installation.
I will do some research, im ready to purchace a set from somewhere. I heard the stock harley air shocks just change the ride by pressure but they dont lower and raise the bike?
I've got them on my Fat Bob. I have the Aldan series in chrome and I love them. I was a little worried buying them at first cause I did read quite a few negatives but not on the Arnott brand. I love em. I wanted something that was good for adjusting between me, me with the wife, and me, the wife, and the tour pack with loads of crap. I also bought the 13" version which is 13" at its maximum and 10 1/4" at bottom out. Stock shocks for me was 12" so I get a better lean angle out of it for the twistees or the semi-slammed look if I want for the local street cruising or anywhere in between for what mood strikes or the ride type I want. There is also 11 way dampening adjustments on each shock that you can dial in as you ride if you want for the perfect compression/rebound. It was an easy install and very clean including the air compressor. If you do buy them, go through Arnott and mention this site and it will get you an extra 10% off.
Before I bought these, I tried different brands of spring adjustable shocks as well as Road King stock air shocks and another brand of air shocks that used a pump as well. The Arnotts where by far the most expensive route but unmatchable in versatility and overall results by far.
See thats some good info, thanks alot! Cant wait to get some. Wonder if i should get the 12 or 13?
Well, it kinda depends on what you are looking for. You can buy the shorter ones and still have no fender clearance problems if you want a really slammed look but if I remember correctly, the 12" series only actually goes to 11.5" maximum which is lower than stock. Now lots of us lower are bikes all the time so that might be perfect for you but you will scrape pegs and exhaust much quicker even at full extension. Don't get me wrong, I like scraping my pegs on the ground but not my exhaust....I just have to get much lower to do it but the Fat Cat still stays clear.
I'll get a youtube video up here in a couple of days to show how mine looks.
I was a little wrong in my spec but probably to a better result. My 13" Aldan Series drop to 9.5" not 10.25" like I stated above so you actually get more......'lowness'(?) and the maximum as I stated earlier is 13". I scanned the spec sheet for their models in regards to our Dynas for you to see. The Bilstein are cheaper but not as adjustable in regards to compression and rebound.
I have the chrome Bilstein series on my 09 Ultra. I love the ride when I get it in the sweet spot. It is important that you buy the pressure guage and mount it where you can see it. If you like to ride at 80lbs then you can hit the up button until it gets to 80lbs. You do not have to guess. I also bought the switch for the handlebars and mounted the pressure guage next to it. Easy install so don't pay HD 4 hours to do it. I put the 12inch on mine and take the twisties real well when all the way up. You can get the firmness or softness in the ride that you want with a touch of the switch. You can ride it slammed but you have no clearance over obsticles or in the twisties. I drop mine to move thru gravel, sand, when backing up and to lower down on my center stand. Great system and support at Arnott. Remember like said above to mention this site for a 10% discount.
