Could be his engine guy has installed his setup on someone else's bike and done a dyno pull already and just re-used his figures from that on his bike?? I realize all bikes are different, but would probably get you 90-95% of the way to being spot on...
So I called the stealer next to my house to get a quote on the setup (with all the stuff already installed) and they want $300?! Called back to my selling dealer and they said 1 hour of labor max ($80). Is there anything I can do to make possibly have the place that's 2 minutes from my house be reasonable with prices or am I stuck trailering my bike 40 minutes to the place I bought it. Don't get me wrong, I have manlove for the guys at my selling dealer!! Just awesome guys, really nice, don't talk down to me, and helped me save a ****-ton (technical term) of cash on all my stuff. It's just gonna suck having to go that far for service and whatnot when there is a huge dealer literally 2 minutes from my house.
Why would you trailer the bike? Just ride your bike to the dealer that's charging you 80$. I'm pretty sure they will not be doing a full dyno tune, probably just a canned map. Like you said the stuff youve done to your bike is pretty basic. Give the business to the dealer that has been treating you right.
Since you seem to have the SERT "installed", did you get the software and comm cables?
Nope, don't have the pipes or stage one on yet either. Just waitin for them to get in either tomorrow or Tuesday, plannin ahead
The reason I would trailer it is that I don't want to mess anything up on the bike riding it there with a SERT not flashed correctly, new air cleaner, and pipes. With the dyna running lean from factory, the cleaner and pipes would only make it worse, maybe not breaking the bike worse, but I would rather not chance it.
Ok, talked to the local dealer and it's a full dyno tune. I also asked em about installing pipes and stage I as well (just to see if they were off on pricing that) and they were actually less than my selling dealer. It seems there may possibly be light at the end of the tunnel!
Now the big quesion..... If a full dyno tune worth the $300?

Yes, but go to the ignition/ecm/tuner section of the tech threads and find the thread "5 questions you should ask your tuner" I think it is a sticky. Aks them how many runs on the dyno they do. Dyno tuning as Vtwin engine is an art & science. If they are doing less than 8-10 runs then you may want to look elsewhere. BTW, it won't hurt your bike to drive it to the dealer. Just don't beat on it.
I have a map put in my PCV from Fuel Moto, the thing does seem to run pretty well I must say, I know curiosity is going to get me one day and I will go get it dyno tuned, but on the other hand I like the way it is now, as stated above find a REAL GOOD Tuner cause you want the thing to run right and u want them to take their time on it and make sure its done right..In another thread I seen someone had a map preloaded and numbers from both not being dyno'd and then dyno'd I think they got somewhere of 8 more Hp/Tq after they got it dyno'd so the canned map wouldnt be bad if thats all u wanted

whoa, I have a SERT and all I got was a plastic thing in a box with maybe serial connectors on the ends, no cable......was I supposed to get one? I got it from, had it put on, got it tuned at the dealer and paid full price so.........I hope I'm not missin' out here.
