I used the stock block, but I actually want to move the lamp up and in 1", so I need to make a custom block.

you do not need to get a custom black... just space it... you can add 2 fender washers under the block and get a lift... if you want to go up a full inch you are going to have to space it further out from the trees as well

I thought about spacers, but I don't think it will look very good and I can't bring it in. Why would I have to space it out if I lift it up? The triples angle back so as I lift it upward I can pull it back toward the frame. I want the bottom of the lamp even with the top of the lower triple.

but the mount is in the middle bottom of the light, i do not think it will clear the upper tree... granted mine is much deeper than a stock Ft boy light... and i can be mistaken but i think you would have to go out about 1/2 in before going up, still easy to make that bracket. i could be mistaken on your mount

I have noticed several threads about changing out the stock dual headlight on the fatbob. Why change it, is it a preference on looks or is there an advantage in the change? Just curios.

I really like the fatboy light on the fatbob but I wonder if the fork covers from a fatboy or roadking would fit the fatbob?

Yes and no...there are no mounting bosses on the trees to bolt the tins to. You can get a kit from J&P to adapt the tins to wide glide trees but I think it is designed for 41mm forks. I haven't seen the kit so I don't know if it could be tweaked to fit. Had I found the kit before I bought the Fat Boy front end I could tell you whether it would fit or not.
