I always wear a full-face, regardless of weather or conditions, as my choice. It only takes one event such as happened to me about 30 years ago to make a believer out of you. It's my face and my choice. Style and other opinions make no difference to me.
I go with a half helmet all year and add a bandana for the highway and a leather "bandana" that velcros for long highway trips, below 40 degrees and rain. The noise doesn't bother me and I am usually not cold so...that's all I gotta say about that.
But like everyone here says be comfortable and ride!
I own half, full, 3/4 ,plus a cool pudding bowl helmet made by davida
the full face presents a list of problems for me
1-cant hear
2-bad side to side vision
3-feels like a lead weight on head
4-look like pumpkin head space man
5-feel like im in a bubble
6-hot as a fox in a forest fire in july
BUT in january it keeps me warm
ill wear the half most of the time along with good leather jacket and gloves and canvas or kevlar denim jeans
good boots are a plus
ive skidded into a deer, lost control after running over a groundhog, been rearended by a car and lost control taking a turn too fast
riding motorcycles is dangerous [sm=smiley29.gif] here in maryland MY BMW friends have all the latest hi tec saftey stuff with reflectors and junk the harley guys i have known will have half helmet and vest or brand new hd leather jack
and the rocket bikes will go from full leathers to full helmet, shorts, and tennis shoes
buy both use the one you like most
I was walking out of a local dive bar on bike night holding my Harley full face helmet and one of the guys says to me, "Where's your crotch rocket?" The owner of the bar was walking with me and knew the guy. He corrected him politely before I got the chance to correct him my way. Being a younger guy I've got a whole lot of life to live ahead of me and I'd like to live it, and live it with my jaw intact. It's full face for me everywhere except for a select few quiet local low speed limit roads where I wear the skully.
After he asked you "where's your crotch rocket", did you ask him "where's your wife?" What a c*cksucker, c*nt, douchbag, pr*ckf*ck....there aren't enough words to describe that kind of tool. I hope you leveled that dolt!

C'mon Todd........don't sugar coat it.......tell us what you really mean I wear a Jet 3/4.with face shield......been down face first with a 3/4 and face shield.......came out with my face untouched. I won't ride anywhere without my helmet.
That's right, everyone wear what they want to wear and screw the people who say something.
I use a 1/2 helmet but carry a fullface in the bagger on long trips for when the weather turns crappy. And for the really long trips, NJ to WI, I wore ear plugs with the half helmet. Funny thing, I forgot to take them out when we stopped to eat so the waitress thought I was hard of hearing, joke was on me cause none of my riding buddies said anything until we stopped for the night.
I have a full face helmet for cold and long trips, use ear plugs for the long trips, because of ringing in my ears, But I mostly use the 3/4 helmet have gone on long trips too, depends on time of year, on all long trips I use ear plugs, and I use on trips and freeway riding a windshshield, if not ride those windshield is off, my 2 cents

3/4 with a flip up face shield does it for me! Glad to hear so many saying wear whatever you want. back in the pre helmet law days id often wear a lid (full face) on longer rides and always caught grief from some azz about how it looked wrong on a harley, pretty stupid. I still say let those who ride decide!
You've received a lot of feedback already but I thought I would second what was previously stated about bad sided-to-side vision. I don't like turning my head all the way around to see if I can change lanes. With a half or no helmet I don't have to turn so much. Also, my ears tend to ring more when I wear the full. My full helmet seems to work like a subwoofer and catches all the bass. My exhaust is not too loud but it is very low and has a lot of bass to it (I love it). After 50+ miles on a highway with the full, my ears are ringing. With the half, they get a lot of wind but my ears don't ring. I like the half with a windshield. I'm in Illinois so I often go without too.
