Ditto Superfastglide's comments WRT the Dyna being a Sporty on steriods. I had a Sporty for 9 years before getting my 08 FXDC. As much as I loved the Sporty, I've never looked back. She's comfortable, has plenty of power, and handles amazingly well. I think that Sporty and Dyna riders are kindred spirits. As for the Super Glide Custom, I think that most will agree that it's probably the best buy for the money of all the Harleys. If you have any questions, drop me a line.
Went from sporty to 09 Street Bob no looking back and would never trade my Bob for anything, Comfort, Handling, Looks, Power, Speed. God I love my Dyna!
I just rode my wife's 1200 Low this afternoon. It feels heavier than my Super Glide and not as "flickable". Also, I was scraping hard parts at much slower speeds on the same road that I just rode my SG yesterday.
My wife has also commented, after having to move my bike to get hers out, that mine is easier to push around than hers. She hasn't actually ridden my SG yet, though. She's freaked out by the 14" apes.
I traded my 07 Sportster for an 09 Super Glide Custom back in December. I've got about 4400 miles on my SG now and the Sportster is just a fond memory. There is no comparison in ride, handling, comfort, or T-O-R-Q-U-E.
The Super Glide (or any Dyna model) captures the essence of the classic Harley, Indian, and Crocker "Road Burner" v-twins of the 30s and 40s. It can cruise effortlessly all day at 70 mph, but when called on has enough power and handling to scare the beejeezus out of you. They are, without doubt, the best all-around bikes that Harley makes.
Trade your Nightster for the Dyna of your choice. You will never look back because of the smile that will be on your face each time you ride. I traded my 2008 1200 low for the Super Glide. In no way could I be happier. Good luck and ride safe.
i traded my 07 sporty for an 09 low rider. i love the LR ride. its so smooth and much better 2 up. However, the sporty seemed to have much better get up and go to me in the start and acceleration. The LR is far superior to the sporty at the higher speeds though.
You all have me sold. I think that I will be trading up. I felt bad abandoning the Sporty, but I want the ability to ride 2 up and I always liked the style of the Dyna. Plus, customization seems endless...gonna scrounge up some cash this week plus my trade in...Cross your fingers for me...
