Sorry you've had problems. It can surely dampen the experience of owning a Harley.

I can't say my local dealer has the best service department, but one time while my bike was having an oil change and some accessories added, the service writer offered his personal bike to me so I could grab a bite to eat. Yes, I've been back several times since. Plus, They know I bought my bike from another dealer. They treat me the same as if I had bought it from them. In fact, I've had good experiences from all the local dealerships in metro Atlanta that I've done business with. They want my business! They realize that being an a-hole won't get it.

Don't give up. I have a 2006 street bob, 20,000 miles, my 3rd bike, absolutely love it and have no desire to ever get a diff one. There is no dealer that has perfect sales, service, and attitude that I know of. I have had no major prob until recently had a prob with a rev/rpm sensor, which was easily found and corrected by service dept. Communication is the key to get what you want if you can't do it yourself. The first 2 yrs should be no hassle for you w/warranty. Stand your ground and keep your bike.

WTF????? I had the oil sensor leak as well.

I've had 3 Jap bikes and 2 HD. None of my Jap bikes ever had issues.
A toyota owner can say the same thing about their car vs any exotic italian or german machine... in the end what would people prefer a camry or a porsche.
i do agree that the amount of issues reported on these new Harley's is ridiculous. Yet for all the problems, they continue to be the cruiser of choice. Go into a Jap dealer and they still have several bike just sitting there leftover from 2-3 years ago. They are a cheap plastic bike has no feel of craftsmanship. Your bike might have a few more problems. In the end when all is ironed out, it will be far more enjoyable than any bland asian bike. The most prevalent conversation between two guys that own a jap cruiser is a conversation about justifying their purchase over a Harley. Those kind of conversations are there due to the insecurities of the owners. They know their bike will never measure up no matter the reliability, price or, performance.... Their rides lack the soul and history behind H-D and the owners know it. A Harley can move you, a Jap cruiser is just 2 wheeled transportation.

If you drove it to Mobile and in the process warped the disc and overheated the brake pads after the dealer you prefer told you not to , who do you think will be buying a disc and pads. I sense there is a different underlying cause why you are so discouraged by your owning this Harley, hope "you" can work things out.

I don't have a JAP cruiser. I have a Jap sportbike for when I want to rip and tear down the road.

I expected MORE from the dealer than what I am getting. I couldn't buy my bike (do the trade up as Pcola and Ft Walton where I bought my Nightster wasn't participating in the buyback program) locally so that is why I bought in Mobile. I am just glad I didn't buy on the east coast -Jax or South Florida-Daytona . That was another reason why I bought in Mobile too due to the fact that I wasn't getting raped on the dealer prep and such.

Oh, I'll eventually get the bike looked at and repaired when I can get the bike to where it needs to be and in a manner that won't cause it further problems. It sucks to make payments on something that you can't ride.
