Default Sputhe and Oil Cooler

I seemed to recall reading that someone here fitted a Sputhe chassis stabilizer and HD oil cooler on their Dyna with no or little issue.. but I can't find the post. Was I dreaming again? I know the TruTrack requires some bracket work... but the Sputhe is smaller.

Home made oil cooler mt. for use with my TrueTrack... must also lengthen oil hoses

The front positrac went on in 10 minutes, most of which was spent jacking up the bike. The oil cooler much longer.

I modified the oil cooler bracket by grinding off a notch to clear the left hand bolt as shown in the test fit photo below. I ended up grinding more off the left side and just a bit off the right side too. The left hand bold is mounted solid to the frame, the right hand moves with the engine.

I did not bend the oil bracket to clear the positrac turnbuckle, using a spacer between the oil and positrac brackets instead. I first tried a 5/16th spacer but it just cleared, no margin, didn't feel comfortable with it. In the end I used a 7/16 inch spacer I made out of bar stock. The bolts provided with the sputhe kit seem plenty long enough, the stock ones are definitely not. To be sure, use some 2 inch grade 8 bolts.

This provided a decent amount of clearance between the cooler bracket and positrack turnbuckle and right positrack bolt (both of which move with the engine).

This pushes the oil cooler farther away from the frame, so I screwed the nut on the center cooler bolt as a spacer, which holds the cooler much more upright. The two remaining bolts hold the cooler to the bracket. The oil cooler hoses were plenty long enough. Looks reasonable I think. Hope it holds together. If you have a chrome regulator cover, there may be a clearance issue.
