Default Floating rotors do run cooler.

I went for about an eighty mile ride yesterday afternoon. It was the first chance I've had to ride since having the floating rotor installed. When I got back, the first thing I did when I got off my bike was remove my glove and touch the rear disc. The center part was cool to the touch. The friction part was warm. The caliper was cool to the touch. Whenever I tried this with the solid rotor it was so hot it would burn my hand. And the caliper would be equally as hot.

So, I'm sold. I'm very glad I opted for a floating rotor on the rear. I thought it would run cooler because whenever I would check my front rotor after a ride it was always cool, but I thought maybe that was because it was stuck up front in the wind, and the rear was hot because of less air flowing across it. I now know that's not the case. The front was running cool because it's a floating disc.

I have both front and rear floating rotors as well. I agree with Gary, should be an OEM part from the factory. Really is a big difference.

got em front and rear too. Have never really paid attention to the temp. Good to know that they not only look 1000% better, but, also run cooler.
