If you're planning on riding 2-up I wouldn't go with the air shocks from the touring bikes either. Yes, they do bolt on but they'll bottom out when riding 2-up no matter how much air you pump into them.

I was in your same boat at one time. I went though a few pairs of shocks (stock, touring air shock, progressive adjustable) before I ended up spending some good money on some 13-1/4" Ohlins. What a difference.

Talk to Howard from Motorcycle Metal. He's a forum sponsor that'll give you a good deal on some Ohlins.

If you're on a budget I've heard Hagon's are pretty good shocks for the money but I believe there not that much cheaper than Ohlins.

Search this dyna section for lower shocks, there was a tread just a few days ago about this very topic....some good info in there..

also go to DK Customs website and read their report on rear suspension...
