Thanks for posting on the finish! I was also thinking of getting the TH in the chrome because I have seen several around here in the black and the finish really does suck, now I can imagine the chrome. As far as "it is what it is" is BS when you are paying that kind of coin for an exhaust. What happened to pride in a product? If it were half the cost then maybe I would get one and send it out for a ceramic coat.

Oh, and nice to know they don't give a crap enough to get back to you on their product.

Cbz...I didn't expect much from ACM. They're only the dealer. I just called Rich products today and I realize it's a holiday. I wanted to do it before I forgot. Was on my mind today. We'll see...

I'm not sure I could have rechromed. The end and the inside of the cone would need to be plugged pretty good so as not to tear up the baffle. If it could be done, and come out looking good, I might think about it.

I don't think painting it black would look good on my bike unless I start the transformation to black.

I was going with the info another post said not to expect TH to get back to you. Probably should not go by one post though, I think I have had too much coffee this morning.
Anyone else try to get in touch with Rich Products about their TH?
So you can't access the baffle and remove it?

pretty much sums it up.

The finish is horrid. I have yet to see one not rust up. Paying that kind of $ for exhaust you should expect impeccable finish. Hell, the stock junk holds up a lot longer.

Hopefully Rich products at least refunds your money Vic. That would be your best bet, a replacement set is still going to have crap finish.

Me and SC-Longhair were just talking about this, I was looking to get the thunderheader and after talking to a few indy's and my dealer, all of them told me to stay away from the thunderheader! They make good power but the quality of fit & finish sucks! They all said they have problems with welds breaking and the chrome either rusting or flaking off altogether! Plus they get nothing but a hard time dealing with Rich Products cause they don't want to stand behind their products. That kinda made me think twice about getting a set and then after talking with SC-Longhair, I pretty much made up mind not to get them. But just about all the shops are recommending the D&D Fatcat. Especially my dealer, he said their getting some really good #'s and the quality is there too! So I got some thinking to do.

Baese, yes you did.

As for a replacement, you're right. It'll still have the crappy finish. I'd hate {sic} to get into the powdering everything black and swapping out the apes for some tall drags, sport fairing...I dig that look too. Very street-fighterish. Plus I think my SOA fan club membership and backpatch package is on its way. LMGDAO!!!

one thing I could do is sell it, and put that towards a fatcat. I'm kind of stuck on 2-1's for awhile and the D&D is a nice lookin/sounding setup. Please don't suggest the BR 2-1.

Hey Vick glad you finally sent some messages out to someone on the Thunderheader.
I will have to inspect mine soon after reading others comments in this thread on the
quality of the chrome. So far for me, no issues but I do have the heatshields so maybe
they are covering the rustoleum??

Not to suggest the BR2-1 but I was on that ride yesterday and that pipe
sounds much throatier with the 103 build than my TH with the stock build.
Some just simply dont like the look and I can understand that too as that
pipe is gargantuan. I would have to go with the D&D next if I change mine
out for whatever reason although I hope I dont have too. I will say after
hearing the BR2-1 gong down the road and at our stops I will say it has its
own sound and gets lots of comments from non riders as well.

Let us know when you hear back from the manufacturer.

Isn't everything closed in the U.S. today? Anyhow it's a shame they aren't more eager to help you out!
