RCB....... The Dealers are getting smarter. I just bought a set of NEW 2006 production, PRE-EPA Harley factory sealed but Discontinued SE Stage II slip on's for our daughters 2006 Heritage....before they ruined the sound along with A NEW Factory Sealed but discontinued Complete Chrome Front End for it. Both purchased through Ebay FROM Harley Dealers. Well, her Dealer in Wisconsin REFUSED to put them on her bike unless the parts were purchased THROUGH THEM. We explained we couldn't, since they were DISCONTINUED parts and they didnt have them to sell to us, but we found them on Ebay and they were FACTORY SEALED AND NEW.
They woudn't budge....... She had to go 90 miles to another dealer who would install them for her. So build up a rapport with your local dealer or get handy with tools.
Welcome from central Washington. This is a great place to meet new friends and gain a vast amount of knowledge regarding H-D's. Enjoy all that is available to you. Geez
LWOS I did not necessarily mean do not buy from the dealer it was more about their pricing of parts. I know most dealers have Ebay stores and sell parts at discounted prices and some dealers have websites that say up to 20% off of msrp. As for me I have a service manual and do all of my own wrenching. Most all the parts put on my bike after I bought it were purchased through the internet. No sense paying full retail.
Welcome to the forums! 2 small things I would suggest are, a laydown plate holder, and a low profile tail light. And here's some friendly advice.... HIDE THE RECIEPTS!!!
I say ride the crap out of it just the way it is now. Then when you get sick of picking up the keys from the ground, move the ignition switch to the console.
Wish I could move mine.....but I dont think I can with the 2007 Low Rider and the way the guages are mounted on the tank. But you're right about picking up those keys from the ground. But, I suppose it reduces "thefts" of bikes when the owners left the key in.
As for hiding the receipts........ either that or marry a gal who loves to ride too!!!
