From the side. I'm making leather "hinges" on the backside next to the bike.

I'm using saddle skirting for the main bodies.... might be a little tough. Could do it for the tops though... I do have one. Oh well, maybe on the 'next' set of bags...

Some of the things I do dye before either sewing on, or riveting... like the straps... etc...

The dye comes off pretty easy for awhile, so dying it and then 'messing' with it, I'd be black for weeks....

Thanks for the comments guys.... I had hoped that by posting pics of my progress and such, that it would inspire someone else to make their own stuff as well.

That's kinda doing it the Dyna way if you ask me.....

Great job. Enjoyed seeing how you made up your bags.

I'm currently half way with making my seat, dash and a couple of bags.
Everthing tooled, trimed and hole punched.
I'm going to airbrush the stain before lacing everything.
A few more weeks as I wait for more materials.

This is my tooled stuff prior to hole punching

Nice work there laroc. My bags are staying black, and black doesn't show tooling very well. I am (later) going to have some stainless trim made up for them though... still working on that design.

I like the airbrushing idea for the stain... I hadn't thought of that... that would work slick!

Straps for the sides..... and locating the buckles...

The straps are going to be riveted on there at the top, with chrome leather rivets.. I may put some sort of 'shiny' thing there in the middle of the gusset.

Okay done fabing up the internal bracing for the bags. Made it out of aluminum floor seam stripping: light with a little rigidity... I'll have it mounted in tomorrow, then I should be on track to start lacing...

Where the two large holes are in the left, that uses the easy bracket bolts so is bolted direct to the bracket... sorta...
