It is about time to replace my back tire and may replace both. I'm at 7500 miles on the stock Dunlops and may have 1K left.
Anyway, I am considering putting a 180 on the back and 110 on the front. Will this effect the handling in any way? I'll probably go with Dunlops again just 'cause I'm cheap, and I'm not a knee dragger.
I'm considering this just for looks (poser Fat Bob?)
When I went from stock 160 to the 180, the first thing I noticed is that it doesnt want to lean into the corners near as readily as the stock. You quickly get used to it and just push a little harder.. The look may be worth it to some, but I got terrible milage on my 180, Only got 7,500 miles..
I then tried the Dunlop D407 170. Still looks wide (not as wide) but wider than stock, Handles great, and now have 14k on them with more to go. Think I'll stick with them. However sure want to try Metz & Avon 170's.
Guess I'll look for the best deal..

With a wider rear tire, your biket will be just a tad slower to tip into turns or lean reversals. You will only notice it if you are on a continuously tight and twisty road and are pushing the bike's limits, where the necessary muscling of the beast can tire you out after, say several runs of 300+ turns in 11 miles.......
I've been using the 170 metz on the rear and 100/90 up front since I wore out my stock tires, handle and ware better then the dunlops. Now Ill be going to 110/90 up front, I think it sould fit.
I have a 110 on the front of mine and it fits my Street Bob without any mods to the fender. I also have a 190 on the back and since it's a Michelin it seems to handle better than the stock 160.
