I installed some Street Slammer bars on my Superglide last winter, now that I'm able to ride more I've noticed that they look off center. It looks like the right side of the bar sits farther back than the left side. Looking at it I thought maybe the headlight was making it appear like the bar was bent, moved it around some and that wasn't it. I had a buddy sit on it and look just to see if it were my eyes or not, they looked bent to him as well.
Question is, this is apparently a manufacturing defect. Anyone else have trouble with these bars like this? I've had them for 6 or 7 months, I'm sure Harley won't honor any returns this late even though I kept the receipt.
Could they be bent back without jacking them up more? Now that I see the bent it drives me crazy looking at them.
MTBLOOD I have a buddy that has the same bars and I that they do not look like what your saying. As for rebending it was recommended in another thread that if you do rebend DO NOT YANK when trying to straighten use a slow steady pulling motion. The thread I am referring to was started by SCLONGHAIR. Hope this helps. Also doubt if H-D would do anything for you even if it were defective when you picked them up.
MTBlood, after reading this, it made me run down and take a look. My bars are straight so I'm guessing you might have a problem. As for HD, I think your out of luck with them fixing the problem. Just to be sure, did you check to see if the bars are fully tightened?
Thanks, I'll probably just have to live with it. It's not so bad that it draws your eyes to it, and no one has ever even noticed without me pointing it out. Just when you're riding is when you really notice it.
I loosened the nuts holding the bars on to see if there were any play causing it to look off center, but there was none.
