Default Draining tank

Hello
I am new to the forum. I have a 1995 Dyna Low Rider that has sat for about 1 1/2 years. It starts easily, but runs very rough. My first guess is to drain the fuel and fill with fresh gas. Any hints on the easiest way to drain the tank?

Thanks

You can use the cross over tube, but it can get messy if you don’t have a third hand to plug one end. I would suggest a little cheap hand priming siphon hose.

Thanks, I didn't even think of siphoning.

Is the petcock vacuum activated? If not removed the hose at the petcock and drain from there, then install a new petcock filter, probably dealer item, otherwise siphon most of it out and the crossover tube will help in this by equalizing the level in the tank. Check for contaminants in the carb. Good luck.

You may also want to have a real close looksee at the inside of the tank.

Highly possible that it could be very ugly in there.

I used 2 vise grips on the rubber crossover tube, and cut it in the middle. Then you can control the drain from each side. I took my tank off tho after I cut the tube.
