Wandering Timing Marks
98 Evo 1340 (carb'd)
34K miles
mild cam
new plugs
stock ignition (except for Accel wires)
I have no tach so I'm not sure of the idle speed, but it was about "typical" for an Evo.
As I aim the timing light into the plastic view adapter, the igniting marks are aligned "on average" where they should be. But they seem to wander a bit, particulary as the engine lopes. Is this normal?
Thanks,
Chuck

Thanks for the advice. I have a service manual and it doesn't mention if the timing marks should be rock-steady or if it's normal for them to wander a bit.
