Before I lift my tank I thought I could ask here. I want to make an extension for my handlebar controls for my new apes. Being the police model I have 3 extra switches with 4 functions. Problem being I don't know what the plug is that I need to make this extension. I went to the dealership and they were useless and are currently bending me over and raping me to drill out my exhaust studs (I broke an easy-out off in a stud, they are IN there). So if anybody has the answer that would be fantastic.
Can you cut the wiring and solder in wire extensions to whatever length you need? Shouldn't need to disassemble any of the connectors or switches at all. Shop around online and you might even find matching color coded wiring. Make sure to heat shrink over the solder joints for abrasion and water resistance.
That was my original idea but buying a male and female connector with some wire and shrink tubing will be cleaner, easier, and quicker. But thanks for the idea though
You might call JP Cycles or any of the Novello retailers out there and ask about your '93 FXRP. Someone's gotta know the connector/plug styles on your bike.
