I have done the search, but have not found anyone that has hard wired a tach solely to the speedometer on an '08 Dyna SB. Joe I went through all the links you gave and the wiring for (+) and (-) went to the speedo but the tach input went to #3 on the ECM. All the rest of the ones I found had some version of speedo and ECM, coil or other. I am trying to see if I can wire my new tach only to the speedo. If anyone has done this with an '08 can you tell me how you did it? If not I guess I will play around and hope it works then post it for others. I had a FuelPak and I know that used the #3 on the ECM. Have a race tuner now but suspect that they may have used the #3 as well. Also trying to limit the number of different sites the three wires run to.

I don't know if this is the same for all 2008 Harleys but If you do a google search for Micro Tach by speedway instruments Their home page has some instillation pdf files and there is one for the 2004+ micro-tach instillation for sportsters (same product for Dyans) and it has the color codes listed for 2008 Harleys in it.
Colors for 2008 HD :
LightGreen/Violet - Databus
Black/Green - Ground
Orange/White - Instr. Power (+12V)
again not sure if this is for Dynas, but it leads you to think so. Check it out and it might give you some ideas on how to do your Street Bob.
Here's a CAD drawing I did of connecting a Tach to the Speedometer for an 06 SG. I took the schematic from the manual and transferred it to CAD. Hope it helps.
thanks all, the KPreese one is the one Joe had posted earlier. As great a write up as that one is, My #3 on the ECM is already occupied. So I was hoping to use the Speedo instead. I had read where people had used #3 on the speedo, was trying to confirm if that was accurate. I guess I will use part of KPreese's for the ground and live wire and maybe try the #3 on the speedo and see if it works.
Thanks again.
