my bars have some play in them, and my buddy told me that was the issue. Plus, i posted a thread here asking what that could be from, and that was i was told it was. As soon as i get back from Laconia (not taking my bike of course) i'm gonna call HD and have them take care of it.
JRK5892, i remember your step-by-step instructions on how to go about fixing that. I appreciate the help with that, but i would for the time being have a professional take care of something like that. Like i mentioned, i'll purchase the parts manual and get familiarized with my bike. I know there's only one way to find out how to do fix something, and that's by learning it yourself, but i would rather have someone with expertise handle it.
I just changed my risers out to the poly ($40.00) and it definitely stiffens them up and feel great. Took me about 20 minutes. Need a 3/4 inch socket and torque wrench for inch pounds. Just be careful when taken out the bolts that the bars don't drop the bars on your tank. I had a moving blanket to protect the tank. Definitely a worth while upgrade in my opinion.
When I changed my bushings to poly, I got some string and used it to hang my bars from the ceiling as positioned on the bike. Sure made it easy to get the bolts started and no risk of the bars falling on the tank.
Wait...why are you going to Laconia (I assume for bike week) AND not taking your bike. Seems kind of pointless.
Not to get off topic but first, time is not allowing me to rent a trailer to put the bike on, and second, i just got my license two weeks ago, and i'm just not comfortable yet riding two hours to NH from Connecticut (i'm taking the ferry from where i am to New London) I'm meeting up with Tat2dgooch, and HE's not taking his bike either cause of the fact that im not bringing mine. I don't care, as long as i'm in attendance. There will be plenty of more bike weeks to attend (with my bike) in the future, so i'm not sweating it.
I am being the kind host and driving my guest up there to enjoy is his 1st Laconia bike week... I never bring my bike I DONT HAVE TIME to sit in endless bike traffic i go to get ideas and plans for mine.. this way i can bring family and friends ..
More power to ya but I have done it and I was sooooo miserable (car to a bike rally). I did it because mine was down and I didn't want to miss the party.

Like i said, my bike WILL be there one of these years, and i don't care HOW i get there, as long as i'm there.........period.
But let's continue with talking about bushings and not about my trip to Laconia.
