I have the Rush slip on mufflers on my 09 SE Fat Bob and at the very front of the muffler body, there is a tarnished area. Like something got sprayed on it. This is my second set that has done this. Noting will remove it. A coiuple of others on the CVO forum have had this problem. BTW, my pants legs are no where near this area. It is the chrome on the muffler that is the problem. Could extra heat from the 110 cause this? I know this is a popular add on and wondered if any of you 96" guys have this problem. Alternative exhausts? I like the tommy gun look.

I have this exact problem on mine....I have a stock (stage 1 96")....it is only on the front pipe and has been there basically from day 1.......early on eI was able to polich most of it out with a little chrome polish but now its pretty permanent.....I think the heat is just too much for the chrome they're using or sumthn. Anyway; I still like the way they look, sound and perform so I guess I can live with a little discoloration..........for now
Yup, started to see mine discolor in the same area at about 10-12k miles, I have 18k on now. For what it's worth they don't seem to be getting any worse and it's not that noticeable. Don't think it has anything to do with your engine as mine is a stage 1 TC88. Gonna stay with them as I love the Rush sound.
+1 They scratch fairly easily. I then got something on it that wouldn't come out. I didn't try too hard - I just ordered a replacement (You can order just one). I wanted to replace them with a V&H Pro Pipe, but couldn't justify the money.
