Man, I'm no mechanic and I installed my 16's, including internally wiring them. It's not that hard and you'll save yourself several hundred in labor. I do have half a brain to operate tools.
To sit down and do it in one shot, probably looking at 2-3 hrs. it took me a few days working 30 min. here, 45 min there because I was also doing daddy duty at the same time. Sneak in a little work when the baby was sleeping.
So, depending what setup you're getting....that cost plus estimated 3-4 hrs shop time at $65-85/hr. Do the math.
Hill Country Custom Cycle on ebay has a really nice package (16's with all cables) for $299. I have them and the quality is pretty nice. Some bars cost $350+ so it's "apes on a budget".
Tip: use one of the new longer throttle cables to pull the wiring harnesses back through the bars.
Also, the deutsch (or molex as mudd likes to call them) connectors can be fun. Check out this vid I did.
